Condolences and deepest sympathy to the family. I first met Phyllis and her children in the late 60s when she was teaching them tennis on the original Warrensville Hts. courts. I reconnected with her after I started playing tennis. She was a member of the Glendale Tennis Club which played out of the old Racquet Club East and at various outdoor courts around the area. My memory is of a strong Black lady with a ready smile.

I have known Phyllis for over 40 years. First it was tennis and recently learning to play pickleball. She was very competitive and I am sure will be many people from both sports. May God be a comfort to your family at this time.

Phyllis is part of our family of players. Not only was she a good player but a good person. I did some genealogy for her and I hope all of the history from Tennessee,West Virginia, Alabama and Mississippi still exists. She, herself, had a nice long record as a Clevelander and Ohioan. I will miss her.

I have known Phyllis for over 30 years She did not know me but I marveled so many times at her very high level of tennis play on the Cleveland Hts tennis courts while I was on the next court over banging the ball. Mayfield pickle ball will never be the same without her. She was my very favorite player to play with and against-she would laugh at all dumb jokes-She always had a smile and would pick me up both physically and emotionally when we were on the court together-Her classy baseball caps and colorful tennis shoes. Oh my will she be missed
