Porter Holloway Jr. of Streetsboro, OH passed away peacefully on February 5, 2024 at UH Portage Medical Center at the age of 90. Porter was born on October 21, 1933, in Macon, Georgia. He was the 2nd oldest child of seven, to the late Porter and Teola (Reynolds) Holloway.
At an early age the family relocated to Camden, New Jersey, where Porter attended Camden Public Schools. Porter was not only the life of the party, but he was also a hard worker. When Porter was not home enjoying his family, he could be found at one of his former employers: Campbell Soup, Yellow Cab Company, or New Jersey Transit System where he retired from after 25 years of service. Porter lived in Camden for over 50 years of his life. He shared many of those 50 years with his beautiful wife Donna (Gould) Holloway. From the wed of 2 marriages, Porter had 7 wonderful children.
Porter was always close with his family which led to him and Donna making the decision to relocate the family to Detroit, Michigan in the early 90’s, where they could be closer to his mother, his siblings and other family members whom Porter loved dearly.
Porter was a man of many travels, which led him and Donna to relocate one last time to Warrensville Heights, Ohio in 1997. Porter being the hard worker he was even after retirement he sought out new employment. He was employed with Speedway for over 20 years from which he also retired.
Porter was affectionately known as “Shelton”, “Diddy”, “Pops”, “Pop Pop”, “Pete” or “Uncle Shelton”. Porter was a simple man and truly enjoyed life. One of Porter’s favorite hobbies was driving, he loved driving so much that he would not give up his car keys even at the age of 90. Porter would say his car was like his toothbrush you would not loan that out. If you knew Porter, you knew he had a saying for every situation. Porter also enjoyed listening to jazz music, watching boxing matches, and traveling. He especially enjoyed his trip to Orlando, Florida. Porter was a peacekeeper who never complained and always saw the good in everyone and everything.
Porter was preceded in death by his daughter Veronica Holloway, siblings Majorie Smalls, Naomi Pinkston, Beverly Langston, Doris Walker, Thomas Holloway, and Calvin Holloway.
Porter leaves to cherish his memory his wife Donna Holloway, children Darryl Holloway (Corean), Gayle Holloway, Brenda Holloway, Shaneice Gould, Carla Gould, and Porter Gould, 3 sisters-in-law Tamra Fletcher, Rhonda Moore (Tommie), Olivia Holloway, 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends that loved him dearly. Porter lived a full life, filled with lots of laughs, love and priceless moments that will never be forgotten. He fought a good fight and now has returned home to his heavenly father.
