Priscilla Banks, 78, affectionately known as “Auntie” or “Missy,” was born on March 21, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Joseph and Fannie Mae Banks. She was the second oldest of six
children.
She attended Garfield Heights High School and graduated in 1965. After being honorably discharged from the United States Army, she pursued a calling in nursing. She earned her
Registered Nursing degree and licensure from Cuyahoga Community College and, in 1995, completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Francis Payne Bolton School of Nursing at
Case Western Reserve University.
Known by many as the “baby whisperer,” she spent many years as an OB nurse at Brentwood Hospital until the department closed, then continued caring for others at Deaconess Hospital and
various nursing homes before retiring.
Growing up, she and her family worshiped at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life, she became a devoted member of Community Christian Church.
She loved traveling and spending time with family and friends. One of her most cherished trips was to Egypt with her best friend, Evelyn Stiver, where they rode camels and made unforgettable
memories. She was also an avid bingo player, regularly making her way to bingo halls across the city, bingo bag and stampers always in tow.
A true lover of books, she could often be found reading The Daily Guideposts or the Bible, and she especially enjoyed selections from Oprah’s Book Club. As illness progressed, she found
comfort in listening to audiobooks. Each year, she made it a tradition to gift family members with Guideposts books. Creative and crafty, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and making colorful
crochet blankets—and even sewed a few prom gowns along the way.
She will be remembered for her quiet strength, resilience, and deep love for her family. Her gentle spirit, warm heart, and steady faith were felt by all who knew her. Whether caring for
newborns, supporting loved ones, or simply showing up with kindness, she gave of herself with grace. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched, the memories she created, and the love
she freely shared, a legacy rooted in faith, service, and family.
Priscilla transitioned peacefully to her home in heaven on Monday, December 15, and was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Fannie Mae Banks; her brother, Edward W. Miles;
her sister, Nasira Banks; her grandson, Eric Lamont Banks, Jr. and best-friend Evelyn Stiver – 12/6/25.
