Randolph (Randy) Evans affectionately known as Mern by family and friends was born on December 30, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio to Eddie B. Evans and Annie Mae Evans who preceded him in death. After battling with an unfortunate illness, he went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
Randy attended East Technical High School and later received his GED. He met Carolyn Walker in 1977, the love of his life, and they were joined in holy matrimony in 1981, from that union they had a Son, Randy Ramone Evans, their one and only child.
He accepted Christ and was baptized by Rev. Samuel T. Jackson at New Prospect Baptist Church. Then in 1989 Randy and Carolyn, which he affectionately referred to as Curl, joined Providence Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Rodney Maiden, where he was a member of the Mens Ministry, Covenant Couples, and the Providence Mixed Bowling League. Carolyn and Randy have been together for 49 years.
He pursued an active work life. Randy spent years at Health Hill Hospital and St. Vincent Charity Hospital. He later was employed as Chief Deputy Clerk for the Cleveland Municipal Clerk of Courts Office at the Justice Center where he retired in 2020.
Randy followed his passion for the Ohio Lottery and was excited when his number hit. Randy was a symbol of independent strength and was a down-to-earth person, but at times could be very outspoken. He enjoyed the exciting atmosphere of spending lots of time around his large family.
Mern and Curl were avid travelers, some of their favorite trips were Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Punta Cana. He enjoyed a host of hobbies, such as playing Tunk, going out dancing, enjoying music and crooning with the fellas to songs by The Dramatics, Chi-Lites, Temptations, The Whispers and Stylistics.
Randy will remain in the hearts and minds of all that loved him, he will be a source of inspiration to us all.
Thanking God for his life, is his wife Carolyn Evans, his son Randy R. Evans, his Grandchildren, Devin M. Evans, and Quianna R. Evans. Four sisters, Mattie Hill, Shirley Smith, Marcia Evans, Karen Evans. Sister-in-law Barbara A. Jackson, Brothers-in-law, James (Ether) Walker, Erick B. Walker. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Annie Mae Evans and Eddie B. Evans. His sisters, Arlene Taylor, Kathleen Carson-Phillips, Joyce Hurt. Brothers, Raymond Carson, Raynard Evans, Reginald Evans, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Randolph (Randy, Mern) will forever be missed.
