Reginald Wayne Woods, a very special gift from God, was born February 9, 1951, in Houston, Texas, to Freeman and Fannie Woods. Reginald was raised in the heart of the infamous Fifth Ward community and attended Nat Q. Henderson Elementary, E.O. Smith Jr. High and, subsequently, received his diploma from Phillis Wheatley High School in 1970.
Immediately after high school, Reginald moved to Los Angeles, California where he met and fell in love with Maudeline Starks. The two were united in marriage on March 17, 1979, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They remained a loving couple for 42 years. From this union, he also gained a beloved son. Reginald was an engaging family man and took great pride in protecting and providing for his family. He and his family left California in 1981, moving to Houston, and relocated to Akron, Ohio in 1994, where he worked various jobs before discovering his passion for working in the Home Health Care Services for Adults.
Reginald was a devout Christian and believed in the almighty Jesus Christ. He was a faithful and active member of The Word Church Akron and he took pleasure in serving in the media department.
Reginald was an extreme collector and had a special love for his dogs. He was an avid fan of the Houston Texans and Houston Astros, but of all things, he loved traveling to Houston to participate in milestones, special occasions, and family-related events.
He was an adventurous person and was always willing and eager to try new things. He thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors and participating in outdoor activities. Some of his fondest memories were made while traveling with his wife on an Alaskan Cruise, driving across the country to Washington State, visiting Ausable Chasm in New York, Big Ben, and even White Water Rafting. He enjoyed life to the fullest.
Reginald was preceded in death by his parents, Freeman and Fannie Woods.
He leaves to cherish so many beautiful memories, his wife, Maudeline Woods, and his son, Tim (Stacy); his siblings, Gilvietta Hargrove, Delvin Woods (Lovie), Martha Gardner, Rita (Marcus) Thompson; aunts, Lois Tatum, Marion (Victor) Johnson and Rachel (Gaylord) Davis; uncle, Charles Thomas; his grandchildren, Porsha (LaQuan), Ravynn, and Elijah; 3 great-grandsons, nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
