Rhona Yelande Walker was born on August 31, 1953, to the late, Robert Benjamin Walker and Louise Annie McNair-Walker in Akron, Ohio. Rhona attended John R. Buchtel High School and then attended Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio graduating with her Bachelor of Arts degree. Rhona was a member of Delta Sigma Theta. She worked as a probation officer for the state of New York and was later promoted to Parole officer of the state of New York. Rhona retired with 30 years of service.
Rhona was a former member of the Greater Free Gift Baptist church under the leadership of Bishop William R. Whittaker II where she served as a trustee. Rhona returned home and joined Immanuel Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of her brother, Pastor Aubrey R. Walker.
Rhona was a woman with a million-dollar smile. She was kind, giving and she loved people.
Rhona went home to be with the Lord on December 18, 2021, at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital in Akron, Ohio.
She was proceeded in death by her father, Robert Benjamin Walker; sister, Gwendolyn McDaniel; brother, Delari Joshua Walker; grandparents, Lonnie and Annie McNair & Johnnie and Virnner Walker.
She will be deeply missed by her mother, Louise Walker; brother, Aubrey (Mae) Walker; sister-in- law, Pamela Walker; aunt, Deborah Scruggs; nephews, nieces, cousins, close friends, Judy Brown, Percy and Joan Gasper, Vanessa Howard, Michael Lundy, Bennie; and her godchildren, Taylor Thomas Gasper, Dana Garrison and Jacelyn Howard of Brooklyn, New York; and a host of many relatives and friends.
