Ricky Lamar Spear passed away peacefully on November 16, 2023 after a short illness. He will be mourned by all who knew him. He was born on October 29, 1956 in Akron, Ohio and was the middle sibling of three.
As a life time resident of Akron, Ohio he attended Akron Public schools through elementary, middle and the high school of North High. Ricky loved watching football with his friends and neighbors, being surrounded by his great nephews, Nissah, Syion, Deangelo Jr. and grandchildren that reside in Sacramento California that frequently visited. Ricky was an avid churchgoer before his short illness. He loved to listen to jazz, gospel music and R&B. Ricky loved to be around the family at holiday gatherings. He also was known for his smack-down chili and bake chicken recipes.
He was preceded in death by his Father Fred Sr., Mother Ada (Spear) Rodgers; Brother Calvin Ruffin, Grandmother Gertrude (McCall) Larkins, Uncles Henry and P.C. McCall.
He is survived by son Derick (Heather) Easson; Grandchildren Derrick, Desmond and Danielle Easson, (all of Sacramento, Calif.) Sister Caprice Spear, Spiritual daughter, Sattawana Redding, and Companion Dorene Bell; Aunts Minister Minnie Ruffin, Odessie McCall, Uncle Willie (Barbara) McCall and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
