Robert Dean Thornton, born on October 5, 1956, touched the lives of many with his warmth, generosity, and lively spirit. He was born to Joseph Thornton and Earnestine Thornton, growing up alongside his loving family.
Robert spent time with Melinda Harris, his ex-wife, whom he still called his wife, and together, they shared moments that became memories. Robert cherished his children deeply, treasuring the memories shared with his daughter Alexus Harris (deceased), his son Robert Thornton Jr. (deceased), Katrina Harris (Johnathon), and Franklin Harris. His grandchildren Jeremiah Medina, Payton Harris, Kaylani Medina, Jelena Harris and Franklin Harris Jr brought immense joy to his life.
He shared memories with his siblings Alvin Garrard (Joy), Joey Thornton (Lisa), Barbara Kachur, Janice Pertee (Mike), Sue McCravy), and Teri Westfall.
Robert worked at CMHA as a maintenance tech for 20 plus years. He was known for his selflessness, always willing to give his all to support his family and friends. A social butterfly, he loved socializing, having a good time, and making cherished memories. He enjoyed gatherings with friends and family, especially if it involved a couple of beers. He was a devoted and supportive parent who played an active role in his children’s lives, always standing by them and ensuring their happiness.
An amazing grandfather, Robert had an abundance of stories to share, captivating his grandchildren with his wisdom and experiences. His hobbies included riding his motorcycle, fishing, barbecuing, playing pool, fixing things, attending lively celebrations, and watching movies. His favorite color, blue, reflected his comforting nature.
Robert’s signature phrase, “I’m Blessed,” reflected his gratitude and appreciation for life’s moments. He passed away on December 14, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and the importance of being giving and compassionate—a legacy his children carry forward in their lives.
