Robert Earl Mayberry, Jr. “Junebug” 61 passed away suddenly in Mayfield Heights, OH June 6, 2018. He was born January 10, 1957, in Akron, OH. He was the third of four children born to the late Robert Earl Mayberry, Sr. and Gatesthrea Cook Mayberry.
Robert graduated from South High School in 1977. He met and married his high school sweetheart, Angela Harper September 19, 1978-1995, and out of this union came their only child Romale L. Mayberry. Robert later married Kristeia Merritt Mayberry in 2009.
Robert enlisted in the United States Army June 17, 1977, where he was honorably discharged June 16, 1980. He also served in the Ohio National Guard for a short time. He had many skills such as chipper, die tech, assembly line worker, forklift driver, and a welder. He worked at various factories and plants including Chrysler, Knapp Foundry, B&W, last working at JBC Technology in North Ridgefield, OH.
Robert was into physical fitness and bodybuilding. He was a very skilled artist and craftsman. He also loved tinkering with cars, a self-taught barber, a skill he learned watching his father cut hair. He loved to cook and experiment with different foods. Robert was involved in his community art exhibits. He displayed his artwork at various local art shows and competitions. He won several ribbons and awards for his artwork that he displayed in the surrounding Cleveland area.
Robert always looked out for his family, especially the children. He would take time out to go back home to Akron to see about family members, even when he was sick. Robert shared a special bond with his nieces, Carlisa Gayle, China Wilson and nephew Leondre Wilson.
Robert’s only child Romale Mayberry and sister Barbara McDonald were there to support him and make him comfortable. He left us too soon but God had another plan for him. His love of family and his perseverance will stay with us forever.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents and leaves to cherish his memory, Krista Mayberry; his only child, Romale Mayberry, of Dallas, TX; sisters, Barbara McDonald, of Akron, OH, Patsy (Granville) Gayle, of Columbus, OH, and Adairee Trammell, of Akron, OH; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
