Robert G. Green Jr., age 87, entered eternal rest on June 5, 2025.
Robert was born on August 12, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Robert G. Green Sr. and Frances E. (Austin) Green. Early in Robert’s life his parents divorced, but he was raised in a faith-filled home by his loving mother and devoted Grandparents Gus Sr. (Papa) and Nettie (Big Ma). Because Robert (better known to the family as Bob,) was the oldest grandchild, he was very close to his 5 Uncles: James, William, Gus Jr., Edward and Calvin as well as his 2 Aunts: Bernice and Edna. He loved them all dearly.
Robert accepted Christ at an early age, and he was baptized at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church where the family attended.
He was educated in the Cleveland Public Schools system and graduated from Central High School. After high school, Robert enlisted in the United States Navy. Coming from a home where his mother taught him to be reasonable, disciplined and of good character the Navy reinforced this same behavior in him. Bob proudly served his country flying over the Pacific Ocean on a Blimp as an Aviation Electronic Technician Flight Radioman. He earned this position by being #1 in his class.
Upon returning home, Robert decided that he was going to get his pilot’s license. But God had another plan for him. A friend told him that the FAA were recruiting for Air Traffic Controllers. He took the test and once again he passed. And this was the start of a rewarding and successful career as an Air Traffic Controller and later a supervisor. He started his career in Cleveland OH then moved to Oklahoma, Washington DC, Detroit Michigan and the Hawaiian Island of Maui, and there is where he retired. He later returned home to Cleveland to care for his mother until she passed away.
Robert loved family gatherings, and he would tell stories about our grandparents and our parents. He also enjoyed driving his Porsche, reading, writing, Michigan Football and jazz music (John Coltrane and Miles Davis just to name a few}.
Robert was the father of two daughters Teresa Hill, who preceded him in death, and Tanaya Jackson of Michigan.
Bob leaves to cherish his memory: daughter Tanaya Jackson of Michigan. Grandchildren Donnie Jr. Jemiel, Turiya, Derrick and Devyn; Great Grandchildren, Cousins Kathie Kelso Perez and Rick Perez, Seventeen first cousins, two dear friends Ferrel Ridgeway and Myrtis Dove, and a host of other relatives and friends.
