Robert H. Long went home to be with the Lord at 8:27 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Akron City Hospital.
Robert was born on June 9, 1949 in Barberton, OH to the late Wilbur Moses and Juanita Agnes Long. He was one of five children. He attended Akron Public Schools and lived in the Akron community for years. Robert was a Christian and accepted Christ as his Savior.
He was married once to the late Sylvia Bushner Long and they were blessed with three beautiful daughters. He retired from R.C.A Company after thirty plus years of service. He was a hard working family man that deeply loved his children and grandchildren, who loved him as well. His hobbies were going to Fitness 19 gym to workout, fishing, walking his daughters pit bull dog (Mercy) and visiting with family and friends. He was a fan of basketball and football. He loved joking around, laughing and making others laugh. Robert had a passion for cars, music, good food and good conversation. He was well known in the community and was especially known for stopping in to the Burger King on V. Odom drive, sitting in the back at the corner table to read his car books while enjoying a cup of coffee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur Moses and Juanita Agnes Long and his sister Beverly Long.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving and devoted daughters, Beverly, Otelia and Sonya Long of Akron, OH; grandchildren, R’Moni, Shataya and DaMiya Long of Akron, OH; brothers Wilbur (Jackie) Long of Akron, OH, Larry (Louise) Long of Atlanta, GA, Gary Long of Akron, OH; special friend, Iris Armour-Bluford; special cousins Ronnie Gary and Lacy Robinson as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and other loving relatives.
