Robert Johnson Jr. (affectionately known by many as June) was born on May 21, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan to the proud parents of Robbie Mae and Robert Johnson Sr., who preceded him in death. He was the third born of five children. Robert received his primary and secondary education in the Detroit Public school system. He went on to establish a career at Chrysler and eventually went on to retire after twenty-eight years.
Robert developed a love for music at a young age. He learned how to play the trumpet, and he especially loved jazz. He enjoyed skating, learning new recipes and cooking with his family. He developed a love for nature and loved taking his grandkids to Belle Isle Park in Detroit, Michigan to feed the ducks.
Robert met the love of his life, Nell, as a teenager. He married his teenage sweetheart, spending fifty-four years together. They went on to have three beautiful daughters – Felicia, Tawan and Kenyetta – who he dearly loved and cherished. Robert enjoyed spending quality time with his wife and children. Robert loved his wife dearly and enjoyed spending quality time with her dancing and singing. He loved to travel with his family and vacation throughout the year. He was so fun and loving with his children, he always played with them. He used to laugh and make jokes with his family and friends.
Robert dedicated his life and became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in November 1983. He had a strong love for the ministry and loved teaching his daughters and others about Jehovah. His joyous love for Jehovah helped him serve as an elder in the congregation for over thirty years and as a regular pioneer for thirteen years, aiding several people into the truth. He enjoyed hosting regular gatherings and events with spiritual brothers and sisters, including traveling overseers, in his home.
Robert loved spending time with his grandchildren, he was known by his children and grandchildren as “Dad” and “Brother Kool” by his friends in Detroit.
He will be truly missed. As Robert’s health declined, he showed courage, faithfulness and loyalty to Jehovah and his family to the end. His faithful example will remain as a witness to the Cleveland Clinic ICU staff. He spent his last days continuing to provide and help his wife and family, proving his dedication.
Robert departed his life December 13, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Robbie Mae and Robert Sr., his sister Beverly, and two brothers Walter and Emmauel.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Nell. His three daughters: Felicia, Tawan (Ernest), and Kenyetta (Jeremy). Seven grandchildren: Brittany, Deonte (Carrie), Terrell, Brianna (Isaiah), Jaylen, Erin, and Erica and his great-grand-children Michael and Nyomi. One brother: Samuel (Sue), two brothers – in – law Freddie Jr. (Ruby) and Michael and one sister – in – law Dorothy. His niece, Robin, who he grew up with like a sister, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. His two spiritual moms, Lola Smith and Evelyn Moses, and spiritual daughter Leah Williams.
