Robert L. Armstrong, Sr. was born on February 25, 1923, from the union of Priscilla (Martin) Armstrong and Robert Armstrong, Sr. He was called to be with the Lord on November 28, 2020.
Robert was a long-time member of the Coburn Street Original Church of God, which was founded in 1917, by his grandfather, Nathan Martin.
A lifetime resident of Akron, Ohio, he worked at BF Goodrich but spent most of his career at the Chrysler Twinsburg Stamping Plant from which he retired.
Affectionately known as Pete, he was a member of a traveling van club and after retirement, he was an active member of AARP and the Retiree’s Club. He enjoyed his daily workouts and friendships at several health clubs throughout the years. When he was still active and living independently, he spent his weekends attending church, playing cards, and watching sports with a wide circle of friends.
Robert was preceded in death by many relatives including Virginia Armstrong; loving sisters, Etta Mae McGrady and Viola Smith; daughter, Minister Kathy Herring.
He is survived by his children Denise (Steven), Shirley, Robert (Erica), and Brenda (Ellis); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends from numerous generations.
Although his journey on this side of life is complete, the sun shines brighter on the other side of eternity where his soul has found everlasting rest.
