On October 23, 2021, we lost a big piece of our family. Unexpectedly, he was gone. Robert Lee Moore, Sr., at 52 years old, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior. He has received his wings and is flying high, no more pain or suffering.
Robert was born April 3, 1969 to Helen Jean Moore Spragling and the late Cloyed Melvin Spragling at Akron City Hospital. He was one of a kind. He attended Akron Public Schools, graduating from John R. Buchtel High School in 1987. After graduating, Robert joined the Army and served two years, returning home after his dad passed.
Robert was a Christian and believed in the Lord a great deal. He loved to listen to The Canton Spirituals, especially Harvey. He grew up in the church, attending with his grandmother, Doll, and cousins. He attended Mount Liberty Baptist Church and Shelton’s Temple.
Robert worked for Akron University in the food department/concessions for sports and Founder’s Day. He oversaw all the restaurants inside of the student center. He also worked for Taco Bell, where he was Store Manager. Recently, he was working at Performance Health. He was a very, very hard worker and always provided for his family.
He met his wife, Kristine, at the Sun in 1991 and their love blossomed. Out of their blissful relationship, they produced three beautiful children: Robert Moore, Jr., Christopher Moore and Madeline Moore. Robert and Kristine became one and was united as husband and wife on April 10, 1999 and were married for twenty-two years. His family was by his side when he received his heavenly wings.
“Baldy” was a loving son, husband, father, son-in-law, brother-in-law, nephew, cousin and friend. He was loved by so many. He was a great family man and enjoyed family functions, he loved to have company. He was a straight up guy who loved to have fun and always kept it real with you. He was a die-hard Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers and Indians’ fan. No matter how many times they lost, he would say, “We gone win the next game.” He always had football parties. He loved wrestling (WWE), always had the pay-per-view events.
Baldy had a way with his hands; he was a great handyman. He loved building, fixing and putting things together. The family called on him and Uncle Bootsie for numerous projects around the house. He loved to travel, go on vacation and attend concerts. Baldy loved all music; some of his favorites were R. Kelly, Keith Sweat, Black Street, David Hollister, New Edition, Janet and Michael Jackson, Notorious BIG, Tupac, Willie Neal, the Gospel Keynotes, The Canton Spirituals especially Harvey and many more. He loved his T.V. shows: Deadlist Catch, Good Times, Sanford & Son, Saved by the Bell, The Jeffersons, all types of movies and especially his soaps. He also enjoyed eating good food. He could cook his butt off! He was the grill MASTER and his ribs were so finger licking good, falling off the bone tender with mad flavor. He had the best ribs and chicken. No one around Akron has anything to top his grilling skills. He also loved popsicles. Baldy loved going to the casinos; Northfield was his favorite. Playing cards with family and friends was also something that he loved to do. Entertaining family and friends, making sure that everyone was happy was a pleasure of his. Family, food, fun and fireworks, his special holiday he loved with a passion, the Fourth of July, was always a blast since he greatly enjoyed hosting everyone. He made it happen every year. He will be deeply missed. “We have mad love for you Robert, you were the truth.”
