Robert Nathaniel Boyd was born on March 17, 1964, to William Lee Boyd and Bessie Rackley Boyd in Cleveland, Ohio and was the youngest of 9 siblings.
He attended Cleveland Heights High School and after leaving he went on to attend The Ohio State University….allegedly. During this time he met and married Stephanie Boyd and from that union came their daughters Bethany and Toya. In 1997, he welcomed his third daughter Aaliyah. In 2007, Robert was joined in marriage to Sonji Boyd.
In 1992, he obtained his Commercial Driver’s License, marking the beginning of his lifelong career as a truck driver. He dedicated many years of service to the Vallejo Company and was an active member of Teamsters Local Union No. 436.
At an early age, Robert accepted Christ and was baptized. He was a fierce protector of his family and an extremely overprotective father who enjoyed spending time with his brothers. He was the life of the party, instigator, and unpaid comedian. He loved flexing when he danced, and when you see him step into a slow motion dab, you knew he wasn’t playing games.
Robert didn’t need much of an excuse to bring out the old school, always reminding his grandson to “keep it all original.” Generous and kind-hearted, he frequently offered water bottles to the mailman and brought a cooler of drinks for his work family. And if this isn’t enough to highlight how great he was, his love and loyalty can be summed up as follows: He was a ride-or-die Browns fan whose hobbies included going for drinks and watching sports, traveling, and spending time with his grandson.
He leaves to mourn his wife Sonji; Daughters Bethany Williams, Toya Boyd, and Aaliyah Daniels; Son Tyrone Martin; Son-in-law Antonio Williams Sr.; Grandchildren Brielle “Babe” Boyd, Antonio “Big Man” Williams Jr., Deni “Den Den” Boyd, Ariya-Joli “Riy Riy” Williams, Azra Williams; Bonus children Jameel Gaskins and Kai Gaskins; Mother Bessie Rackley Boyd (preceding him death) and Father William Lee Boyd Jr. (preceding him in death); His brothers William Boyd III, Duane Boyd, Charles Boyd, John Boyd, Samuel Boyd (preceding him in death), and Tony Hines; Sisters Annette Willis, Sharon Page Greene, Shular Martin (preceding him in death), and Sabrina Boyd; His very close cousin Matthew Boyd (preceding him in death) and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Lastly, he leaves behind his best fur friend Buddy!
