Robin Elaine Brown was born June 22, 1957 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. With the family settling in East Cleveland, Ohio in 1969, Robin quickly became involved in school, sports, and church activities. Having accepted Christ at an early age, it was evident that she inherited her mom’s (the infamous “Ms. Bailey”) passion to serve not only in the church but in the community as well.
Following her graduation from Shaw High School, Robin began what would become a successful career expanding four decades within the Lutheran Church community. Starting as a part-time church administer at St. James Lutheran Church (Now New Covenant Lutheran Church), Robin’s faith and talent allowed her to progress to the director of the church’s hunger center. Her “no-nonsense” yet sensitive approach in serving clients was vital to the center’s growth which served thousands of families over the years and continues today.
Affectionately known as “Robin” (by adults and kids alike), her career continued to grow along with her spirit and faith. Robin accepted the position of Lay Minister of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Youngstown, Ohio. She brought her same passion and commitment even with the challenges of a daily commute between Cleveland and Youngstown. She served there until her retirement.
It was the above accomplishments, coupled with the loving, caring, and supporting of hundreds of children and adults, that led her to becoming one of the most well-loved and respected figures in East Cleveland and the overall faith community.
Robin was preceded in death by her mother, Jewrett B. Bailey. She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory three children: Calvin Deshawn, Yarnell De ‘Lissa, Jeffrey Leonard Williams; One Sister and Two Brothers: Jewrett Yvonne, Timothy Austin (Karmen), Kenneth Darrell (Joanne); Three Grandchildren: Aarren Marquell, Chanel Marshe’ and Ja’Nya Monae; One Great Grandchild: London Navae; and host of Nieces, Nephews, Family, and friends.
Robin’s life journey was truly guided by faith and generosity. God’s grace allowed her to Rest In Place until she was finally called home to His eternal peace. We continue to enjoy the fruits of her efforts while inheriting the pleasure of a laugh or smile with the mere mention of her name………“Robin”.
A true child of God, she rejoices while being told…WELL DONE MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT!
