Rochelle Knowlton-Jones departed this earth life on Thursday, April 18, 2024. She began her life journey on Thursday, July 18, 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio. She is preceded in death by both her Mother, Clara Knowlton, Father, John Teague and eldest brother, Michael Teague (Jeneine).
She attended Cleveland Public Schools where she excelled in music programs as a talented singer/vocalist and vocal arranger, and member of the 1st graduating class at the New East Technical High School in 1975. She would later graduate from a local vocational college as a Certified Nursing Assistant; earned an associate degree from Bryant & Statton College, and attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Strayer University.
Rochelle Knowlton married Dwayne A. Jones, Sr. and they had three Son’s. After years of rearing them in music and honing their skills as talented trio, Chris, Tony, & Steven would achieve local acclaim as “The Jones Boys”— being featured in local talent shows with the late Ernestine Ross and performances in productions with The Karamu House. Notwithstanding, Rochelle also achieved much success as a founding member of the female R&B group Entagere’ with her life-long friend and children’s God-Mother Monique Sephus along with Lyric Harris.
While her children were coming of age, Rochelle would meet and enter a life partnership with Priscilla St. Clair, and they would spend the next 32 years together experiencing the ups and downs of life. She was able to travel the country and live in the Southern cities of Dallas, Texas and Augusta, Georgia; returning home to Cleveland in 2021 to continue building memories with her immediate family.
Rochelle (J) leaves to mourn her older sister, Marsha Knowlton (K) and baby brother, David Knowlton (Sharon), her three children: Christopher D. Jones, Sr. (Nache), Mark A. Jones, and Steven P. Jones, Sr.; step-children: Alan and Chantal; god-daughters Marquetta and Maleya; grandchildren: Delonte’, Alonzo, Chris Jr., Ariana, Deon, Steven Jr., Armani, Christian, Ayden, Precious, Daten, Elijah, and Love; nieces/nephews Michael (Bo), David Jr., Patrice, Victor, Sharod, Jamiele, Jamal, Jermaine, Keenan, Dakida, Elvonsha; cousins Gayle B., Rosie W., Kita, Sandy, Lachelle S.; and a host of good friends and loved ones.
