Rochelle’s journey began on April 25, 1974, a beautiful spring day in Akron, Ohio born to Mignon Miller and Rodney Cash, Jr. (deceased). With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a beautiful, remarkable woman who touched our lives in profound ways. We celebrate her life and the legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories she leaves behind.
Rochelle possessed a zest for life. Above all else she cherished her family, finding immeasurable happiness in the love and laughter they shared. Her daughters, Rashonda Chatman, Kellie Graham, and Katona James, were the center of her universe, and her seven grandchildren, Donnie Chatman, Jayleon and Jaimere Rowland, Nylah Travis, Karma Whitlow, Winter Graham and Alonah Kerney brought boundless light to her days.
Her mother, Mignon Miller, and stepfather, Reese Miller, held a special place in Rochelle’s heart, as they provided her unwavering support and guidance throughout her journey. She had a special affection for her GrandMaMa, Vonceil Massengill. They often chatted about childhood memories, life and lessons learned. Rochelle cherished her brothers who were always there for her, Rodney Cash Jr., Richard Cash I, and sisters, Brooke Sanders and Rubena McCall. Their shared memories, laughter and unconditional love formed the foundation of their sibling bond. She adored her nieces Brailynn and Mattie Simmons, special niece Katrina Shavon (Kylee) Arnold, and nephews Sherman Cash, Richard Cash II, Davierre Cash, Ryan Cash, and Elijah Simmons IV. Rochelle was the first Grandchild and Niece between her mom and her sisters. She spent much of her life growing up and spending time with Aunt Candace. Aunt Lisa Morris was always loving on her for she was as sweet as she was beautiful. Rochelle adored her entire family, and each shared a very special place in her heart.
She had a deep love for God and found solace within the walls of Mt. Haven Baptist Church. Rochelle had a beautiful voice, and she was not shy with her gift. Whether it was a joyful melody or heartfelt ballad, she shared her gift freely singing in the choir and on the Praise and Worship team. She always joined in song and sang a solo at the family Christmas Eve gathering.
Rochelle graduated from Akron North High School. She was a member of and performed on the Flag Line of Al Kaf Youth Group #109. There she met lifelong friends, sisters, and brothers. She would later join R.A.R.E. Divas Social Club where she treasured the friendships formed.
Rochelle worked for Akron Summit Community Action for ten years last working at Spectrum. She loved helping others and her kindness touched the lives of many.
She was a beacon of light, known for her infectious laughter and comedic flair. Her quick wit and humorous anecdotes never failed to bring smiles and laughter. She had the ability to joke and find humor in any moment.
“Rochelle’s time with us was far too brief, and we mourn the life yet to live and the love yet to give. We will celebrate the beautiful memories we shared and honor the impact she made on our lives. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all she touched. Rest peacefully Chelle, as you join the choir of angels, sing your songs of joy and love for eternity”
