Our beloved Rodrico D. Stamps transitioned on February 14, 2023. Rodrico, affectionately known as Rico, was born on January 15, 1982, in Akron, Ohio, to Pamela J. Stamps and Antonio Player. He attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from Kenmore High School.
In high school, Rico was the captain of the football team. Later, he played semi-pro football with the Cleveland Cobras, Ohio Dolphins, Raiders, Silverbacks, Broncos, and Akron Jags. Rico was a chef at many locations, he would often boast about his cooking to his family. He applied his skills in football to coach the South Rangers for over nine years and recently at Buchtel High School for a couple years. He also worked at Circle K and Mac Discount.
He was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Player; grandmothers, Anna F. Stamps, and Barbara Hill; grandfather, John Williams; great-grandmother, Flora Stamps; uncle, Johnny Williams; and cousin, Markell Hope.
