My sincere condolences to the Shaw family...just learned of Coach Shaw's passing in winter edition of St Sebastian's Alumni Arrow...my memories of Ronald center around my time as a "not so good" 6th grade basketball player- when other coaches yelled and rightfully tried to correct on of my many mistakes , Coach Shaw was alway there to offer a kind word and a much gentler form of correction- he was a gentleman in every sense of the word. I wish peace to all your family and friends - I'm certain God chose him for his team! God Bless!

My late husband (John) and I knew your father thru St. Sebastian church and Knights of Columbus. I always looked forward to seeing Ron at church. He smile was so warm and genuine and he did seem to be a gentle giant. I always felt better after seeing him. Your obituary is a true testament to his spirit, a good man. I’m sure he and my husband are talking about the Browns, Buckeyes, etc. May the wonderful memories you have of your father bring peace and joy ti your heart.

Gone too soon. Will miss him always. I didn’t know he was sick and feel terrible for his family. Praying for the repose of his soul and strength to his family.
Pat Hernon left a message on January 11, 2022:
Mr. Shaw was part of the St Sebastian Terriers football/basketball Rat Pack… The true gentleman and patient coach. Some of the other characters weren’t so patient, don’t ask me how I know… Ron and Tom were immediately standouts but there Dad never gave them any extra favors as coach. He showed us all how a great person performed in all aspects of his life. RIP Coach Shaw.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Dear Ronnie, Tom and family.... My heartfelt love and condolences on the loss of your dad. Time and memories are curious things: memories can seem fresh no matter how many years have passed. A moment in time can speed by or seem to go in slow motion. May your dad's memory be a blessing and be eternal. Much love, Sarah

I knew Ron (and Donna) as an usher at St. Sebastian's. All that fellow mourners have said is true: kind, caring and a true gentleman. He was a worry wort when it came to ushering. Will we have enough ushers today...we always did. He was very sweet. My heartfelt condolences to his loving family.
Brian Gearinger left a message on January 6, 2022:
Mr. Shaw was one of my coaches on the Northwest Akron Hawks -- a youth football team on which I played as a 4th grader. Almost 50 years later, I can still hear him encouraging us, and see him taking joy in our progress. What a thrill that I crossed paths with him again in high school when I got to play with his sons Tommy and Ron. (By high school, he no longer was Ronny!) Mr. Shaw was kind, generous, and humble. We should all be more like him. He will be missed.

My heart ❤ goes out to the entire Shaw family. Coach Shaw was a tremendous man and one of the kindest human beings I have ever met. His warm smile and firm handshake will forever be with me. His dedication and service to others was inspiring. Thomas and Ron your father was loved by all who knew him. God Bless you and your families peace with all possible speed.

So sorry for your lost Ronny & Tommy and the spoiled rotten granddaughters. He was a kind gentleman who always took the time to take care of and be present with every interaction. You lost a good one. Be proud that he was your father and influenced so many in such a positive way. Keep him and your mom in your hearts always.

We are saddened to learn of Ron's passing. He had such a stately presence and a smile for everyone. As we remember him ushering people to their seats at The Civic and St. Sebastian, it is easy to imagine him as head usher for God welcoming souls through the heavenly gates. He will be missed.

Prayers and heartfelt condolences from my family to yours. Ron was one of the kindest, big-hearted persons I ever had the pleasure to meet. He will be missed.
John Anderson left a message on January 5, 2022:
Ron was among the most kind, tender, and caring men I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. Although a bit older than me, stories of Ron’s commitment to helping young people at St. Sebastian were legendary. As a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, Ron took his oath of service and charity to heart. He was a pillar at St. Sebastian, serving as an usher at 11 am Mass for what seemed like forever. I’m a better person for having gotten to know him. “Well done good and faithful servant…”. Vivat Jesus.
