Ronald “Ron” Taylor, of Cleveland Ohio, made his transition on November 9, 2023 at the age of 69. Ron was born on July 20, 1954 to John Quincy Taylor and Dorothy Taylor in Cleveland, Ohio.
After Ron Taylor graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1973, he was employed by Ameritrust Bank. He was always enthusiastic and looking out for a greater opportunity to learn and grow. After 6 months at Ameritrust, he transferred to Ohio Bell, which proved to be a substantial move for him. There he worked his way up the corporate ladder, leading to a role in management. As a quick thinker and with an innate love for problem solving, his brilliance and curiosity allowed him to develop the gift of repairing computers, installing systems for businesses, and speaking the language of his profession. Based on his proficiency he earned the label within his circle as “BLACK IT” the one who could solve and fix anything! After 45 years of service, Ron retired from Ohio Bell.
Ron was a huge basketball fan. His preference was college ball over the NBA, which he felt had a more pureness about it; it was a sport not a show. He would play basketball 5 days a week. When he found favor with the owner of a local gym he frequented, that owner entrusted Ron with a key so that he could use the space whenever he pleased. According to his loving wife Beverly, “He never went anywhere without “Spaulding” his sidekick.” She recalled, that they were never alone while dating because “Spaulding” was always there!
One of Ron’s favorite pass times was going to Las Vegas to play blackjack. He won sometimes but he tipped all of the time as he was a generous soul.
Ron was an uninterrupted book devourer. His hunger for knowing made him a constant reader. Always searching for greater meaning, he often studied religion, various sciences, astrology, astronomy, and a host of other subjects that he found mysterious. He was a lover of multiple genres of music, particularly jazz from any part of the world. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. He was a culinary enthusiast as many folks would look forward to his Thanksgiving specialty; deep fried turkey in peanut oil, even though he was a vegetarian. All of these elements of his character caused him to be a great influencer, a wise encourager, a big brother to many, a wonderful friend to a multitude and a great PaPa.
Ron Taylor was predeceased by his father, John Quincy Taylor and his mother, Dorothy Taylor.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Beverly Taylor. Aaron (Marikina), Michael (Brenda) Stephen (Enyo) (sons). Shi’Anne, Mya, London, Nasir and Noah – grandchildren. Tysen and Tonika Wright-Bey (God-children) and Ronald Allen (aka) “Lil Ron” (younger brother).
