Roosevelt Martin II, affectionately known as “Rose,” was born to Roosevelt Martin and Emma Martin (Bush) on September 27, 1949. On August 19, 2022, Roosevelt made his transition to the next life in his home surrounded by his children.
Roosevelt graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1967. Soon after, enlisting in the United States Air Force. He was married to Juanita Martin (Williams) on November 8, 1971. From this union, they had three children, Nicole Martin, Roosevelt Martin III, and Phillip Martin. He had an immense love for his family: watching The Muppet Show every weekend with his three children and traveling with them nearly any and everywhere he could think of. In his young adult years, Roosevelt spent leisure time playing softball with other fathers in the Metro Estates community. Roosevelt was a self-taught photographer and was well known for not being shy to snap a photo in any situation. Among his most notable accomplishments include his MANY family photos and taking photographs at cabarets. Roosevelt had a love for Sci-Fi movies and Jim Henson puppetry.
Roosevelt was heavily involved with many Democratic community leaders. He especially enjoyed working with Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones prior to her passing. He was an avid community member in Metro Estates, assisting in park and neighborhood management. He was also a Freemason who participated in a variety of functions.
Not a man to sit still, Roosevelt was always learning something new. He became an LPN later in life and devoted time to caring for others. He could be found working in his garden, starting a DIY home renovation project, or hanging out outdoors with his grandchildren in the Cleveland Metroparks.
Roosevelt is preceded in death by his parents Emma Martin (Bush) and Roosevelt Martin.
Left to celebrate his life and cherish his memories, are Roosevelt’s three children, Nicole Martin, Roosevelt Martin III, and Phillip Martin; his grandchildren, Yasmeen Turner, Yahaad Turner, Yaniyah Chandler, and Yasien Buchanan; one great-grandchild, Yaasir Turner; his siblings, Kenneth Martin, and Catherine “Cat” Davis (Charles); nieces and nephews, Charease Williams (Jerome), Dion Lindsey, Micheal Davis (Asya), and Crystal Davis; as well as a host of cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.
