Rorry Garrett, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, was born on September 3, 1986, in Cleveland, Ohio. His unexpected passing leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and inspiration among all who knew him.
Rorry was the cherished son of Rorry James Garrett Sr. (Valerie) and Melissa Hirsch (Rod), and the proud, loving father of Kassidy Camille Burse, Tristan William Garrett, Kadence Melise Garrett, Rorry Garrett III, Tahj Garrett, and Kai Aria Garrett. His siblings, Nicole Garrett, Thaddaeus Garrett, Mona Wheeler, and Amber Garrett—will forever hold him in their hearts. His sister-cousin and closest confidante, Sherrice Adams, along with his aunts, Kimberly Adams and Tonya Thompson, played lasting roles in shaping his life. He also shared a special bond with his grandfather, James Mitchell (Barbara), and exchanged love with the many aunts, uncles, cousins, and mentors who enriched his life.
Rorry’s journey through life was marked by his dedication to family and friends. He was a proud graduate of Aurora High School, where he excelled in both football and track, graduating in 2004. Rorry’s passion for community and innovation led him to co-found the UnBAR Cafe Inc., which he successfully managed from its inception in January 2020. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Rorry’s perseverance saw the opening of two additional ventures, Cafe Indigo in 2025 and 601 Coffee House in 2026.
Known for his infectious smile and jovial spirit, Rorry was a natural prankster whose humor and warmth could light up any room. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life was a testament to his genuine and caring nature. Rorry had a deep love for the arts, particularly sketch drawings, he enjoyed rap and old school music, and he was an avid history enthusiast and trivia aficionado. His greatest joys included spending time by the water and sharing his life with his loyal canine companions.
Rorry’s circle of close friends, including Michael Mack, Vinny Leonard, Anthony Smith, Rob Lewis, William Lewis, and Amber Hightower, will forever cherish his memory and the countless moments of joy and camaraderie they shared.
A service to celebrate Rorry’s life will be held on September 19, 2026, at 3:30 PM at Calhoun Funeral Services, located at 23000 Rockside Rd., Bedford Heights, Ohio 44146. All those who knew Rorry are welcome to join in paying tribute to a life well-lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Rorry’s name to the Cleveland Animal Protective League in honor of his love for dogs.
Rorry Garrett will live on in the hearts of all whose lives he touched. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will endure for generations.
