Rose Nso Bate-Eya, beloved daughter of late Mathias and Catherine Bate-Eya, cherished aunt/surrogate mother to her many nieces and nephews, loving sister to her sisters and brothers and favorite cousin and a caring friend to countless others. She was born November 28th, 1964 and transitioned into eternity December 6th, 2023 after a brave and life long struggle with Sickle cell disease.
Sweet Rose was a nurse from an early age in Cameroon and after relocating to the US in 1992, she earned a one-year technical certificate in Practical nursing from Lorain County community college, an Associate of Arts degree from Cuyahoga County Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cleveland State University.
She was a long-term employee of Cuyahoga County Community College where most recently she worked as an enrollment specialist.
Ma Nso was a lifelong learner and was passionate about sports and was an avid Cleveland Cavaliers fan. She loved watching and discussing politics and could have been a political commentator if she had chosen. She was an extremely kind, caring, and compassionate person and cared for and nurtured her many nieces and nephews that her late sisters left behind.
She is survived by her many nieces and nephews especially the Ayuk-Takem children to whom she was like an older sister to, her brothers, and a host of other relatives in Cameroon, the USA and internationally.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her sisters Ms. Agnes Orock Bate and Mrs. Cecilia Ako as well as her sister Mrs. Sophie Ayuk-Takem and her brother-in-law Dr. Jacob Ayuk-Takem who raised and nurtured her from the age of 5 years old.
A silent tear, A constant wish that you were here. You will always be remembered and deeply missed by your loving family and friends.
A special thanks to the staff and Physicians at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital who have tirelessly and compassionately cared for Rose during her many hospitalizations there and her endless clinic visits.
If you so desire, in lieu of sending flowers the family would appreciate donations made in Rose’s memory to: –
