Rosie Lee (Reese) Brown went home to be with the Lord on April 10, 2024 at her home.
She was born in Haynesville, Alabama to Lucy (Reese) Butts and Hugh Gardner. She lived in Alabama for several years as a child and then moved to Detroit where she lived several years before moving to Akron and graduating from South High School. Rosie worked at various places throughout her life, but her passion was caring for people, especially the elderly. She worked in the nursing field for over 20 years when her health began to decline.
Rosie accepted Christ as her personal savior under the pastorate of the late Mother Alma Walker where she was a faithful member working in the Sunday school, usher board, and choir. In 2005, she became a member of Heaven’s Gate Community Church under the pastorate of Eld. Gregory Lee. She attended faithfully until her health prevented her from attending. Although she could not attend physically due to her declining health, she never stopped praying for and supporting her church family.
Rosie absolutely loved the Lord. She also loved and dearly missed her husband L.V. who preceded her in death on January 3, 2014. Rosie’s 6 children and her family meant the world to her. When Rosie was well, she loved to travel, go to church, and spend time with family near and far.
Rosie was preceded in death by her husband of over 54 years, L.V. Brown, parents Lucy Butts and Hugh Gardner, and sister Mary Louise Thomas.
She leaves to cherish her memory children Anthony (Gwendolyn) Brown, Cal Brown, Sarah (Eugene II) Wilson, Terri (Cornelius) Porter, Elve (Crystal) Brown Sr., Lori (Richard) Twitty.
