Roy C. Laury was born November 12, 1946 in Forrest City, Arkansas. He departed from his earthly life on July 7, 2024.
Roy was the first of four children born to the union of his parents, Sammie and Corene Laury née Clemons.
Roy was a graduate of the Glenville High School, class of 1965. As a child and young adult he was an active member of St. Timothy Missionary Baptist Church. Roy served honorably in the United States Army. He was a dedicated employee of and retired from Lincoln Electric.
Roy was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was very proud of his children, Candy, Roslyn and Dimitrius. Precious memories of his life and legacy will forever remain with them.
The word grandfather was a badge that Roy wore with great pride and joy. His grandchildren, Stefan Sr., Isaiah, Demarco, Scott, Sebastian and Cherish affectionately called him “Papa Roy”.
His great grandchildren Stefan Jr., Nina and Ezra were his treasures. They were given the key to his heart at birth.
Roy was truly the big brother. He is survived by his three siblings, twins: brother Sheldon and sister Sherldean and the forever baby sister Claire Denise.
Roy enjoyed family, traveling, playing cards, telling jokes, watching movies, playing pool and luxury Cadillacs.
Fond memories of Roy will be shared and celebrated by a host of family, friends and acquaintances.
We are proud to have been a part of Roy’s journey. He will be greatly missed!
