Ruby Turman. or Grandma Ruby, as my cousins called her, is part of a generation of greatness. A generation, where character, integrity, family, and a reverence, fear, and love of God meant everything. I remember growing up in church and every Sunday like clock work, before the service started, Grandma Rudy would take a seat next to my grandmother in the second pew of the sanctuary, because that was the pew reserved for the Pastor's wife and the wives of the Decons. I and my sister were assigned by my parents to sit in the pew in front of them so my parents, who sang in the choir, my grandmother, and Grandma Ruby could keep an eye on us. It was like top level surveillance because, whatever my parents missed, whether whispering to each other or fidgeting, either my grandmother or Grandma Ruby caught, and one or all of us would receive a gentle hand on the shoulder, to let us know to stop what we were doing and pay attention to the sermon. Hearing of Grandma Ruby's passing brought back a lot of great childhood memories of her, the church I grew up in, the generation of God fearing adults we were blessed to grow up knowing. People who had a vested interest in our lives and left larger impressions then they will ever know. I remember her smile and not until I watched the video of photographs, did I realize my Aunt Roslyn has that same smile. I remember her greeting my sisters and I with a strong hug every Sunday, well into our teenage/ early adult years. I remember her lemon meringue pie, and I remember the kindness and love she continued to show my mom, sisters, and me, when our family fell apart. I send my deepest condolences to Aunt Rosalyn, Lillian, Doug, Kevin, all the grand children and great-grand children. "weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." She is now where we all long to be. She is in the presence of the Lord with so many family and friends that went before her.

I will always remember the warm and loving feeling I got from the Turman home. I spent many days in the home as child having the best time of my life.
