Ruby Lee Kibler was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 24, 1957. She was the eldest of four children to Frederick and Doris Ozan (who preceded her in death). She was raised in Cleveland, and attended Cleveland Public Schools where her favorite thing to do was go to the “Sock Hop” dances. At a young age Ruby was known for her kind heart; the ability to tell you how she really felt and always wanting to help others. She went to Cuyahoga Community College where she got her nursing degree. After Ruby decided to leave the nursing field, she worked at SPS technologies for most of her young-adult life then went on to Progressive Insurance until she retired. Ruby was married to Boylese (Buddy) Kibler, Jr. in July of 1992. She and Buddy had an amazing marriage exploring the world and spoiling their goddaughter until his passing in January of 1999.
Although Ruby did not give birth to any children, she was a mother to so many throughout her life including her favorite niece, Nikki, and her goddaughter, Dorothea, who were very well known in her world of Narcotics Anonymous. Ruby became a member of NA on July 15, 1986. She held every position from the group level to the regional level. She had a wealth of knowledge of NA literature, policy, and procedure. Ruby was known worldwide throughout the NA community as she had guided and sponsored a special group of people.
Ruby is survived by her siblings, Stacy Ozan (Bridgette), Felicia Ozan-Smith (Cedric), and Brenda Ozan-Pitts (Larry); nieces Nicole “Nikki” Ozan, Margaret Plummer, and Tracy Smith-Walker; great nieces and nephews Brianna, Aiyanna, Jasmine, Antione, Marcel, Nadia, JayDen, Jaylen, Jordan, Denver, and Ermani; great great nieces and nephews Carter, Marcel, Jr., Aiden, Haiden, Paris, Ashauntie, Raiden, Mosiah, Syaire, and Myaire; plus a host of family and friends.
To our family, Ruby will live on through those she loved and those who loved her. We have personal sadness at her passing but sorrow is not more faithful than God. There will be days where grief and heartbreak will ambush us but God’s peace will overtake that which seeks to overtake us. Let us hold tight to the hope and assurance we have knowing that she belonged to the Lord, and we will see her again in eternity.
