Ruby Preyer Bland was born on November 30, 1917 to the proud parents of Liston J. L. and Janie Lee Preyer in Mobile, AL. Ruby lived in Alabama for a number of years until her family relocated to Ohio.
She confessed Christ at an early age. Ruby was affectionately known as “Gran” by others. She will be remembered as a great cook, and for her generosity. She was employed at The Diamond Match Shop for a number of years. After which she entered into the Janitorial field. She had a full life enjoying others and retired at the age of 80.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Willie, Sr., one biological son, Neal Harris, a step son, Willie Bland Jr. (Tackie) and a step daughter, Marie Bland. She leaves a great memory by one dear sister, Nannie Ruth Broaddus; daughter, Minister Emily (Lee Dell) Johnson, Clanton, AL; a special son, Frederick Bland, OH; stepson Ronald (Jackie) Bland, OH; two special grandsons; Gregory Bland, AL; Lanard D. Richardson, OH; who along with a special nurse Erika Fears cared for Gran until the end. Ruby will also be remembered by a host of relatives and friends.
