Sallahdin Abdullah Rahieem was born Edmund Brown Jr. on December 7, 1941 to Edmund Brown Sr. and June Wells. Sallahdin was the first born child and his brother, Ronald Brown(deceased),was the second. Sallahdin enjoyed skating and fishing, he learned these skills at an early age. His mother, June, taught him how to skate and also how to play tennis. Sallahdin was very athletic, he perfected his tennis skills and played basketball all throughout high school. At the age of 17 he accepted Islam under the guidance and leadership of Minister Tariq Hamzah. As a young man he moved to New York City, where he started training for his pro amateur license in tennis. Unfortunately, Sallahdin had a leg injury that ended his tennis career and he moved back to Cleveland,Ohio. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because he was able to continue his studies as a Fruit Of Islam (F. O. I) and find his purpose as a True Follower of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad while in the process of being mentored by Minister Tariq Hamzah. Brother Sallahdin was also blessed to travel abroad. He became fascinated with the Arabic language and began to study under an Islamic Imam where he became fluent in Arabic . Sallahdin worked for Bearings Incorporated for 15 years until retirement. Brother Sallahdin became the Assistant Minister and was very active at the Temple of the True Followers of the most Honorable Elijah Muhammad. He never met a stranger and was always trying to spread and teach Islam to all he came in contact with. Sallahdin leaves to mourn, his wife, Sister Beverly Rahieem. His children: Jamila, Salihah, Kareem, Ameer, bonus Children, Jabril, Kamarah, and Jalil. (Sallahdin Jr proceeded him in death) Eighteen grandchildren and one great grandson , a host of nephews and one niece. He made friends in all walks of life and never missed an opportunity to spread a joke and to make people laugh. Sallahdin will be greatly missed by the Fruit of Islam (FOI) and the Muslim Girls Training (MGT) at Muhammad’s Temple of the True Followers of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and everyone that knew him.
