Sally P. (Grimes) Williams faded from our presence, but became permanent in our hearts on Sunday, August 27, 2017.
Sally P. Williams was born on January 1, 1930 in Shorter, Alabama to Walter Lee and Hannah Pinky (Stinson) Grimes. In 1949, the city of Akron, Ohio became the place she called home. In 1952, Jerry Lee (Rudy) Williams became the man she called husband. From her union with Rudy came four daughters.
Her careers ranged from being a devoted wife and mother to working and retiring as a Housekeeper at the Akron Cascade Plaza Holiday Inn. In every role, she demonstrated a caring and passionate desire for making the lives of others better.
It was well known that Sally had an unwavering commitment to her faith. Her love for Jehovah was demonstrated by being a long-time and faithful member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Sally enjoyed music and movies as well as traveling the world. Her travels took her to numerous cities and countries including Germany, Italy and France.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents and husband Rudy; daughter Fay Williams; sisters, Thelma Redd, Lee Buchanan, Ann Kincaid and special niece Velma (Redd) Chism.
She is survived by daughters Ethel Williams-Vinson and Julie Williams of Akron, OH, Carmela (Carlos) Rentas of Columbia, SC; brothers, Walter Lee (Pat) Grimes Jr. of Akron, OH and Willie James (Pete) Grimes of Port Lavaca, TX; grandchildren, Kevin (Sharon) Vinson and Kenya (Christopher) Holley of Akron, OH, Gabriel Rentas of Columbia, SC; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Breana, Christian, Ayden, Braylen and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and her Jehovah’s Witness family; especially the Akron West Congregation.
