Sammie faithfully served as a longtime member of Peoples Baptist Church, where his faith stood as a cornerstone of his life. He built a strong work life in Akron, Ohio, working at Seiberling, Firestone and Summit County Engineering.

He is survived by his loving spouse of 38 years, Lucile; His children Sammie Key Jr., Anthony Key, Timothy Key, Carlos Key, Beverly (Richard) Gibson, LeeAnn (Giozanni) Berquin; stepchildren Robert Wooden, Patrick Wooden, Mark Wooden, Cathy (Marcus) Ramsey, and Devetta Wooden; 19 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers James Key and Alvin Key, his daughter Lynn Key, his son Michael Key and his stepson Melvin Burt.

A man of faith, family, and fellowship, Sammie’s legacy lives on in the many hearts he touched. May his memory continue to inspire love, laughter and togetherness among all who were blessed to know him.
