Samuel Dixon, Jr.’s life began on July 2, 1951, born to the late Samuel and Beatrice (Hendrix) Dixon, Sr. in Atlantic City. His family moved to Akron, Ohio in 1956. Sam attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from North High School. After graduation, he attended The University of Akron. Shortly after that, Sam was drafted into the United States Army. He received an honorable discharge after four years of service.
He was a carpenter and contractor by trade working alongside his father, brother, and nephews. He also worked as a maintenance supervisor for many years at UNC Charlotte in North Carolina. He retired in 2012, to pursue his passion of being an owner & operator of Total Home Care and Lawn Service.
He met and married longtime friend LaTricia McCary of Akron, Ohio, in the presence of family and friends in June of 2009.
He was a member of Harvest House Christian Church where he gave his life to Christ. He worked in the ministry while helping to grow and develop the church. After he relocated to Charlotte, NC, he attended World Worship Church and later became a member of All Nations Church in Fort Mill, SC. He was an associate member of the National Association of Buffalo Soldiers and Troopers Motorcycle Club, Charlotte NC Chapter. He also was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Samuel was preceded in death by sisters, JoAnn Dixon and Cynthia Dixon; father, Samuel Dixon, Sr; sister; son, Christopher Dixon; mother, Beatrice Dixon; brother Alexander Dixon, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, LaTricia Dixon; children, Jason Pruitt, Deleesa (Marcus) Bruback, Stephan (Keisha) Evans, Christina (Diante) Moch; nine grandchildren; in-laws, Joe & Barbara McCary, Calvin McCary, Desi (Diana) McCary, and Luresa McCary-Vaughn; nieces, Christal, Kaneda, Tressa (Edward) Pickett; nephews, Wesley, Shawn, John, Min. Raymond Woodruff, Quentine, and Alexander, Jr.; aunts, Verlie Williams of New Jersey, and Arnethia Ross of Virginia and a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
