Samuel (Jack) L. Biggers passed away June 16, 2019 surrounded by family. He was born March 6, 1934 in Clayton, Alabama to Henderson Dan and Annie Belle Biggers. He was the oldest of nine children.
The family moved to Union Springs, Alabama where he attended public school until he moved to Akron, Ohio to live with his grandmother. There he met the love of his life Hazel Christine Ewing, and they married June 2, 1955.
Shortly after their marriage Samuel enlisted in the US Army where he served 4 years of active duty. After his tour was over he and his wife moved to Miami, Florida. While in Miami he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and remained active until his death.
After spending several years in Florida they moved back to Akron, Ohio. During the 52years of marriage they raised three children, 2 girls and 1 boy. To support his family, he worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. for 15 years as a tire builder, Akron Children’s Hospital 25 years as Supervisor of Housekeeping, and also owning his own business, Biggers Union 76 Gas Station for 12 years. He loved gardening, fishing, spoiling his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and attending the family’s annual family reunions.
Samuel is preceded in death by his parents; wife Hazel Biggers; brother Roy Biggers; and grandson Quierram Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory children; Roslyn (Rodney) Gaines, Steve Biggers, and Treva (Deon) Hickling; grandchildren, Jeffry (Jennie) Edwards, Jasmin Edwards, Megan Northern, Imiri Hickling, Elise Biggers, Nathan Biggers and Rodney Gaines Jr.; great-grandchildren, La’Nyiah, Aaliyah, Derek, Jaelyn, Jeff Jr., Jai’Dyn, Jai’Vyn, Armoni, Adara, and Jah’Meri; siblings, Arthur (Catherine) Biggers, Henderson (Dorothy) Biggers, John Biggers, Lillie Pearl (Josephus) Rogers, Annie Laura Ferrell, Savannah Lee, and Evelyn Oliver. Special cousin Joann (Larry) Portis, and special nieces Tameria Blue and Darnita (Charlie) Jackson, adopted granddaughter Miracle Jones, close friend Arnold Frye and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
