Sandra Hanson was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 2, 1951, to her loving parents Nina and Willie Jackson who were from Fitzgerald, Georgia. Sandra was the seventh of nine siblings. Linwood, Willie Jr. Mabel, Wilbert, Jack, Donnie, Carol and Kim. Who God all called home before her.
Sandra attended East Tech High School where she graduated in 1969. She earned her Nursing degree in 1971, where she started her career at Huron Road Hospital located right here in Cleveland, Ohio. Sandra had a loving heart, when it came to her family she loved “very hard”, and applied a “don’t mess with my family” demeanor even to those that were not her family, including many nurses and doctors that she “adopted” as her children.
Sandra was introduced to Lawrence Hanson III in 1970 at Union Grove Baptist Church. They begin to date and fell in love. They married on January 18, 1974, with this union the blessing of two beautiful children were born, Cassaundra Lanetta Hanson and Lawrence Hanson IV. With the love of being a hands-on grandmother, she loved, spoiled and loved her grands like no other! They were “her babies”, so it is to no surprise that her nick name was “SUGAMAMA”.
Sandra was always a ball of fun and energy. Sandra would enjoy many family gatherings, from cook outs to road trips and going to the drive-in movies, most times ten deep! She also loved bowling, bingo, casino and traveling with her siblings. She loved telling stories about hand dancing, AKA “cutting the rug” with her brother Wilbert.
Sandra loved watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, her varies interests made her very knowledgeable on many subjects, she would state that she was “A plethora of knowledge” and would as , I’m going to Jeopardy one day.
Sundays was her favorite day to cook amazing dinners while yelling at the television screen at any sporting event, but mostly anything Cleveland, especially the Browns.
Sandra was a great confidant and was always there to listen to any problem that anyone had, and gave great advice. She said what she said!, and meant what she said!. She would give you the shirt off of her back or her last dime without hesitation or question.
Sandra leaves to cherish her memories; her loving husband Lawrence Hanson III, her two children Cassaundra Lanetta Hanson and Lawrence Hanson IV, five beautiful, strong and intelligent grandchildren, Jazzarus Bell, Alexander Hanson, Christopher Hanson, Dalyis Hanson, ZyAir Scott. And a host of nieces, and nephews, cousins and friends.
