Sarah Barnes was born in Charleston Mississippi on August 27th 1938; to the late Hal and Ethel Barnes. Sarah moved to Cleveland Ohio in 1956 at the age of 20 she worked numerous jobs finally settling on a career in domestic work until her retirement in 2020. She loved flowers, playing the lottery, spending time with family and friends, the color purple, listening to the blues and cooking. Sarah accepted Christ at an early age and became a faithful and dedicated member of Mount Mariah Baptist church. Taking on a role on the usher board Sarah had a passion for cooking she loved entertaining family and friends.
Sarah transitioned home to glory on March 6 2024. She’s preceded in death by Her parents Hal and Ethel Barnes; (Siblings)Robert Barnes, Eddie Barnes and Harold Barnes Jr.; (Children) Linda Ashbury, Calvin Smith, Marilyn Barnes King El, and Valonte Barnes.
Sarah leaves to cherish her loving memories : 2 sons Lawrence( Karren) Smith, Andy (Leatrice) Smith 5 sisters Mayreen (Willie)Martin, Patricia (Willie) Barnes, Joaddie (leroy) Foster, Ruby (Walter) Daily and Ethel Foster 2 brothers Willie (Maxine) Foster Willis (Renae) Barnes (Sister in law ) Ruth Barnes, 15 grandchildren, 24 great grand children and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, love ones and friends
