Shannon Douglas Scott entered eternal rest on December 14, 2025, in Akron, Ohio. Born on September 1, 1972, in Steubenville, Ohio, he was the beloved son of Norma Jean Gillison and the late Collins Raymond Scott. Shannon was a cherished son, brother, father, cousin and friend whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Alberta “Nanny” Gillison; paternal grandparents, Collins and Sara Scott; and his dear sister, Sara Yvette Scott.
Shannon was baptized at an early age in the Baptist faith. He graduated from Steubenville High School and later went on to graduate from Stark State College with an associate degree. He built a career as a Class A CDL truck driver and was employed with Smith Transport. In his free time he studied martial arts which lead to him earning a black belt. Shannon was a man of integrity who loved to laugh and joke with family and friends, and cherished time spent with them. He was especially proud to be a new grandfather and adored time with his granddaughter.
He leaves behind to celebrate his life wife Tamara Scott, sons, Caleb Mays and Traevon Scott; mother, Norma Jean Gillison; sisters Shawn Scott, Sybil Brown, Whitney Gutierrez (Fidel), and Crystal Hill; brothers Tyrone “Fatboss” Brown and Robin Saunders; great-nephew Micah Billups, and grand-daughter Amari Henderson-Mays,
Shannon is also survived by his uncle Eugene Gillison; aunts Marie Moore, Helen Gillison, and Maryanne Scott; great-aunt Geneva Bell; nieces Jordan Cox and Jazzmine Handy; nephews Jaze Handy, Ethan Mewborn, Fidel Gutierrez III, and Azriel Gutierrez; along with many loving cousins and a host of friends who will miss him dearly. Though our hearts ache with loss, we find comfort in the love and memories Shannon leaves behind.
