In Loving Memory of Shawn Ware
October 15, 1976 – March 16, 2025
Shawn Ware, 48, of Ravenna, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on March 16, 2025. Though his time here was far too short, Shawn’s vibrant spirit and unforgettable laughter will echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on October 15, 1976, Shawn attended Ravenna High School, where he met Angel. Though they were not high school sweethearts, they did share a memorable moment attending prom together. After high school, life took them in different directions—but fate, in its perfect timing, brought them back into each other’s lives. They reunited and were married on March 11, 2013, sharing a bond that was real, deep, and enduring. Complicated at times, yet undeniably powerful, theirs was a love that never stopped mattering.
Shawn built a life filled with creativity, connection, and humor. He had a gift for making people laugh—even when they didn’t want to. If you were upset with Shawn, chances are you’d be smiling within minutes. That was his gift—his humor softened the edges of even the hardest days.
He was a talented cook who took pride in his kitchen creations and saw himself as an artist—not just in food, but in the way he approached life. Whether he was cracking a joke or creating something beautiful, Shawn brought color and light into the world around him.
He also loved cheering on his favorite football teams—the Cleveland Browns and the Michigan Wolverines—never missing a chance to talk a little trash when they played.
Shawn was a man of quiet but deep faith. He was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at United Church of Jesus Chris in Ravenna, Ohio where he was a member for many years before transitioning to his new church home at Pilgrim Church of Christ in Cleveland, Ohio. It was within these communities that Shawn found spiritual grounding, love, and a sense of belonging.
Shawn is survived by his devoted mother, Kathleen Koller, and his beloved wife of 12 years, Angel. He leaves behind five children who were deeply loved: Terrell Johnson of Kent, Ohio; Harry Harris of Arizona; Autumn Boyer of Stow, Ohio; Jade (Isaiah) Calhoun of Ravenna, Ohio; and Donovan Mack of Stow, Ohio.
He is also mourned by his siblings: Sarah (Michael) Meade of Tennessee; Victoria “Gail” (Kenneth) Garth of Cleveland; Joseph Davis of Cleveland; June (Shawn) Ware-Watkins of Cleveland; Desiree (AJ) Cephus of Cleveland; and James “Jimmy” Moffatt.
Shawn was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Ware Sr.; his son, Qamar Longmire; and his siblings, Jerome H. Ware II and Dawn Antoinette Ware.
He also leaves behind to mourn him two special cousins who held a deep place in his heart: Josh Oneal and Xavier Kelly—along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Though he’s no longer with us in body, we trust that Shawn is at peace—resting in light, laughter, and eternal love. His absence is deeply felt, but his memory will remain a source of joy and warmth for those he leaves behind.
