With profound love and deep gratitude for her life, we celebrate the beautiful spirit of Shindana Jackson, a woman whose heart, generosity, and radiant smile touched everyone blessed enough to know her.
Shindana Jackson, known to everyone as Dena, was born October 11th, 1969 to Ruemylia Pearl and Pearl Ann Jackson. Dena, who had a joy that seemed to shine from within, grew up rooted in faith, receiving Christ at an early age at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her beloved grandfather, Reverend Samuel T. Jackson Sr. From that foundation, she carried compassion, kindness, and service into every part of her life.
A proud graduate of West Tech High School’s Class of 1988, she made history within her family as the first to graduate college, earning her degree from Cleveland State University in 1995. Her dedication to helping others guided her into a long and meaningful career in social work. She served the county faithfully for three decades—celebrating 30 years of service on November 15, 2025—and was honored as Social Worker of the year in 2004, a testament to the countless lives she uplifted along the way.
She was a woman who loved life and found joy in the simple things, heartfelt moments: going to bingo, picking up scratch-offs, playing the lottery, or enjoying a trip to the casino. She adored throwing card parties, especially when the game was Bid Wiz, and no one could forget her signature fanny packs that she wore with pride and personality.
Her laughter was contagious, her presence comforting, and her smile—truly unforgettable.
Her favorite music filled her home and her heart, especially the timeless sounds of Michael Jackson and Tony! Toni! Toné!. She also had a special love for musical biopics, especially What’s Love Got to Do With It, The Rose, and Why Do Fools Fall In Love—stories of resilience and passion that mirrored her own spirit.
Above all, she was a profoundly selfless woman—someone who gave without hesitation, who showed up without being asked, and who loved with a depth that knew no limits. If she could do something for you, she did it wholeheartedly. She truly had the biggest heart in the world.
Her legacy is one of love, service, laughter, and unwavering generosity. She leaves behind memories that will forever warm the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
May her soul rest peacefully in the embrace of God, and may her light continue to shine through everyone who loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving parents, Ruemylia Pearl Jr. and Pearl Ann Hurth (Sam); her beloved children, Brittany Michelle, Kiya Monèt, and Darin Maurice Jr., as well as her bonus daughter, LeAnn Marcha’e and grandchildren Chase Jackson & Averi Marie. She is also survived by her devoted siblings: Mary Lynn, Felicia (Ronnie), Rayshone (Michelle), Jermaine, and Ruemylia Lee.
Proceeding her in death are uncles Joe and Sam Jr. She leaves behind her uncles Manning, Rickey, Darryl, and Lawellam (Lachelle); and her aunts Linda (Jerry), Joyce, and Barbara (Sam Jr., deceased). She also leaves behind her special love, Jeffrey.
She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
