Shirley Etta Pettus- Williams

February 26, 1953 - February 6, 2026

Shirley Etta Pettus-Williams passed away on February 6, 2026, at the Arbors of Fairlawn following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Alice Brown of Akron; her father, Thomas Williams of Dayton; and her brothers, Alton Williams, Dwayne Williams, and Thomas Williams, all of Akron.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, Angela Stephens, Jarice Hagler, and Mary Renee Williams; her children, Kenneth Dwayne Williams of Michigan, Tyra Deshawn Williams of Dayton, and Nakeeta Williams-Coleman of Akron. She also leaves nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family extends special thanks to family friend Sandy McCurry for the care, love, and support she provided to Shirley in her final days.

Shirley loved music and found joy in the simple pleasures life offered.

My sincerest condolences

To the family of Shirley I send my deepest condolences. For thirty plus years I knew Shirley she was a very exciting woman who traveled to many different places in her life. We didn’t attend the same schools I met later in life. Shirley had a great sense of humor along with the ability to talk about things in life that had strong meanings. She loved her mother and she loved the Lord. Rest in peace my friend no more pain
