In Loving Memory of SirVonn Nasir Terrell
February 25, 2009 – October 4, 2026
The Early Years & Royal Beginnings
On February 25, 2009, at 4:30 PM, the world was blessed with the birth of SirVonn Nasir Terrell, weighing 5 lbs 6 oz. Named in honor of his beloved great-grandmother, Yvonne (Bonnie) Terrell, and intentionally given a name suited for royalty, “Sir” truly lived up to his name. His parents gave him the nickname “Big Money Sir,” which they always had engraved into his glasses from elementary school all the way to the present. His journey began at Bright Side Academy when he was just eight weeks old, where he quickly earned the nickname “Rocawear Baby” for his signature sharp outfits. From the very beginning, SirVonn stayed fresh, setting the standard for a life lived with style, confidence, and distinction. Growing up alongside his beloved dog, Miracle, SirVonn learned companionship and love from an early age. As a young boy, SirVonn filled his world with imagination and play, passionately building with Legos and organizing epic Nerf gun battles.
Academic Excellence & Community Roots
SirVonn’s school journey blossomed through Akron Public Schools. A pivotal moment came when he was placed in Mrs. Morrison’s class—a milestone that turned out to be one of the greatest blessings in his life. Mrs. Morrison saw his potential, pushed him because she knew he was destined for greatness, and remained his favorite teacher all the way through his senior year. During his time at Leggett CLC, SirVonn consistently earned Honor Roll, Merit Roll, and Perfect Attendance awards, culminating in being named Student of the Year. In the 1st grade, SirVonn was officially deemed gifted in mathematics, attending advanced math classes at Mason CLC.
While at Leggett, SirVonn also connected deeply with Ms. Lisa from The Chapel, who grew very fond of him. Through Ms. Lisa, SirVonn participated in the Good News Club, a Christian-based afterschool program at Leggett, and attended her summer camp. It was through Ms. Lisa that he discovered Camp Carl, which became a beloved part of his youth.
Yet, as sharp as his mind was, it was his compassionate heart that truly defined him. In elementary school, after learning that a classmate was being bullied about his shoes, SirVonn came home determined to spend his own money to buy the student new shoes. Moved by his selflessness, his parents stepped in so SirVonn could keep his money, purchasing matching Adidas for both boys. His spirit of selflessness only grew with age; while attending a Cleveland Browns game with his Aunt Yvette, SirVonn willingly gave his very last $20 bill to a homeless man in need, demonstrating a maturity and kindness far beyond his years.
Faith, Leadership & Athletics
SirVonn’s relationship with God began at a very young age. He was baptized as an infant, and later, as a teenager, he made the intentional decision to be baptized again—giving his life to Christ on his own terms. His faith was something he actively lived out. SirVonn served as President of the Youth Ministry and took great pride in running the Media Ministry—faithfully managing the live streams for weekly church services as well as homegoing celebrations for others at Wesley Temple AME Zion church. His faith was further deepened during his cherished summers at Camp Carl, where he learned to swim, stepped out of his comfort zone, and drew even closer to the Lord.
In athletics, SirVonn was a force. Playing football for the South Rangers, he experienced a nearly undefeated career—always looking forward to victory Mondays, when his parents would proudly feed the entire team. Beyond his talent on the field, SirVonn’s charisma, leadership, and magnetic personality earned him the title of Homecoming King for the South Rangers. In middle school, guided by Mr. Chambers, he joined the wrestling team. Fighting through full-blown bronchitis during the City Series in 8th grade, SirVonn showed his unmatched grit and earned 2nd place overall in the heavyweight division. At home, he loved playfully wrestling with his father, laughing until he lost the match.
A Mother’s Unyielding Devotion & Cherished Memories
SirVonn was blessed with a devoted mother whose entire world revolved around his well-being. From enrolling him in therapy at age 4 to fiercely advocating for his rights and education in IEP meetings, his mother utilized every resource to ensure he thrived. She taught him how to cook, be independent, remain fearless, work hard, and value promptness, respect, education—above all, instilling a deep and abiding love for the Lord within his heart.
Together, they shared a love for shoes, water, and spontaneous adventures—whether sitting quietly by the water, taking trips to Kalahari, going swimming, shopping, catching movies, or making it onto the big Megatron screen at a Cavs game alongside JayLa and his father. She was there for every milestone, from practicing head-up football drills to teaching him how to drive in the Kenmore High School parking lot. One of his proudest personal milestones was getting braces; after being teased by kids about his teeth when he was younger, SirVonn was overjoyed to transform his smile—and once those braces came off, he had a stunning set of teeth and loved to laugh proudly, showing off every single one!
Entrepreneurship & Future Dreams
SirVonn started high school at Garfield High School, where his natural leadership and flair for fashion took flight as he launched his own brand, “RR” (The Richest Ain’t The Realest), designing and selling custom t-shirts and hoodies. Daring to be different, SirVonn never wanted to look like anyone else. He went on to attend Bridges School, North, Firestone, and began his senior year at Akron Alternative Academy (AAA), where he felt genuinely cared for by his teachers and was proudly on track to graduate.
SirVonn was remarkably future-oriented, always thinking steps ahead. Driven by a deep desire to help others and make a positive change in the world, he planned to earn his CDL and go on to become a therapist. He spoke passionately with his mother about his dream of opening his own therapy practice and eventually moving out of the country, always promising that he was going to take care of his mother forever. A young man with a strong work ethic, SirVonn proudly worked at Showcase Meats for over a year before joining the team at Swensons.
A Wise Soul & Cherished Bonds
SirVonn was wise well beyond his years, possessing an old soul and an undeniable presence. He was a natural protector, fiercely devoted to his mother and his sister, JayLa. The bond between SirVonn and JayLa was unbreakable—they shared a deep, seamless closeness and an understanding like no two people could. He looked out for her constantly, spoiled her with whatever she wanted, and shared countless private moments, laughter, and TikTok dance drafts that no one else would ever see.
With his father, SirVonn shared a deep, unwavering bond that even prison could not break. His father continually taught and instilled in him what it truly meant to be a man—how a man must provide for his family and serve as a strong leader of the household. SirVonn took those lessons to heart in everything he did. From playing Xbox together at a young age to matching outfits and blasting music riding in the car, SirVonn felt coolest right alongside his dad. SirVonn never let a conversation end without saying “I love you”—even when he was upset, those were always his final words before hanging up.
The Simple Pleasures
SirVonn brought energy and appetite to everything he loved. His favorite meals included well-seasoned soul food, Birria tacos, elote corn, Kinteros Restaurant, Chipotle bowls with double everything, his favorite Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwiches, and Oreo ice cream.

SirVonn leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Territa (Rita) Terrell-Mitchell; his father, Jackie Mitchell; his beloved sister, JayLa; his grandparents, Marita and Craig; and his great-grandmother, Yvonne (Bonnie) Terrell. He is reunited in eternal peace with those who preceded him in death: his great-great-grandmother, Eva Henderson; his great-grandfather, June Bass; his grandfather, Oliver Mitchell; his cousin, Horace “Boo” Lee; his God-grandma, Sonya Martin; and his favorite little cousin, D’Angelo “Baby D” Alcorn.
