A Time To Be Born. Sonya Penn was born on June 28, 1983, in
Cleveland, Ohio to her proud parents Ozzie and Dorothy Penn. Sonya was the
youngest child and her older siblings, a set of twins, Ozzie, and Olivia and an older
brother Derrick were always there to spoil her and take care of her. As a little
girl, she loved to go everywhere her father went.
A Time To Serve. Sonya (“Jeneen”) as she was known by her family and
friends) graduated from Euclid High School. Upon graduation, she immediately
entered the work force. Her most recent employment was with University Hospitals
as a Medical Administrative Assistant. She was always a hard worker and
dedicated mother. Sonya loved to be busy and her passion was cooking. Sonya was
a faithful member of the Eastern Star, Chapter 4. Sonya held the positions of
Past Worthy Matron in the Eastern Star and held leadership positions in various upper houses.
A Time To Love. Sonya met Carlos Taliaferro, Sr. (Deceased) and fell in love.
To that union three children were born Carlos Jr., Sophia, and King. Sonya loved
her children and would do anything for them. She also had a special love for her 2
four-legged children Spade and Piper. Sonya is and was dearly loved by all her
family and friends, because of her loving and unselfish attitude. She always greeted
you with a beautiful warm smile.
A Time To Die. Sonya accepted Christ at Providence Baptist Church and was
Baptized on October 2, 2013. After many years of illness and hospitalizations,
Sonya’s body couldn’t take any more and on April 24, 2025, she found her rest.
A Time To Mourn. Sonya leaves to celebrate her life, 2 sons, Carlos, Jr. and
King; one daughter, Sophia; her parents, Ozzie, and Dorothy Penn; two brothers,
Derrick Pannell and Ozzie (Nikia) Penn; one sister, Olivia (Rashee) McLaurin;
many nephews and nieces and a host of relatives and friends.
