Steve Patrick Atkins affectionately was known as “Man” or “5000” by the ones he loved. He was born June 19, 1963, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Fannie Atkins (Haywood Atkins) and Steve Wilson. He was the middle child out of five children. At an early age, Steve accepted Christ. He is preceded in death by his mother Fannie Atkins. Fathers, Steve Wilson and Haywood Atkins, his brother Vea “LC” Atkins, his grandparents Dorothy Vea Brown, John Allen Brown Sr., Ruby Amanda Lee Long, and Edward Emmerson Long.
Steve attended Cleveland Public Schools, where he graduated from John Adams High School. Throughout his years he enjoyed playing basketball, watching sports, fishing, playing chess, cards, and dominoes with friends and family. Steve was a fun-loving, and easy-going person with a boisterous spirit that couldn’t be matched. He was known by many for his selflessness and compassion. Everyone that knew Steve knew that his daughters and family loved and cherished him.
Steve met and married Phyllis Manley Atkins, the love of his life, from this union was born two beautiful daughters Sharde Atkins (Jermaine Agee) and Steva Atkins (Darius Burgan). Steve started his career at CMHA where he worked for over a decade. He then went to school for plumbing and became a Certified Master Plumber and used that knowledge to build a successful plumbing business, where he taught many others his knowledge of the trade.
A few of the loved ones that Steve is leaving behind to cherish his beautiful memories includes his loving daughters Bernice Owens, Shardé Atkins, and Steva Atkins. Loving grandchildren Deony Wells, George Black III, Geordan Black, Christian Davison, Giandre Avery, Luke Owens, Logan Owens, and Londynn Owens. His three loving sisters Carolyn Long Mack, Acquarnetta Bailey, and Lydia Atkins. His stepbrother George H. Gorley Jr. His mother-in-law Sandra Manley; His sister-in-laws Robin “Sassy” McGrady, Pamela Manley, and Kittawia “Lou” Atkins. His brother-in-laws Robert “Bert” Manley, Clayton “Clay” Manley, Jermel “Mel” Manley (Yvette Manley). Along with a host of loving Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
Steve will be greatly missed, but he will live on in our hearts forever.
