Susan Mae Lindsey, who departed this world peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones, on August 22, 2026. Born on May 28, 1932, in Grenada, Mississippi, Susan was a beacon of love, faith, and generosity throughout her 94 years. Susan was the cherished daughter of the late Coley and Naomi Wilmington. She was predeceased by her siblings, Earlene Munson and James Wright, her devoted husband, Sylvester T. Lindsey, and her children, Norman Wade, Gwen Clisby, Deborah Golding, and Gary Stanford. Despite these profound losses, Susan’s spirit remained unshaken, supported by her unwavering faith and the love of her surviving family. She leaves behind her children William Allen Wade, Naomi Carmella Wade, Mary Lindsey, and Kim Dixon, Having always had a special attachment to Gloria Comar, Irene Smithers, and LeeAndrew Wright, she held close her beloved nieces and nephews. Her special children, Ashante, Dyquone, Tiffany, and Tender, along with dear friends turned family, Joann Anderson, Wanda, and Claudette Leigh, will forever cherish her memory. Susan was a proud grandmother to 5 grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren whom she had a hand in rearing and she shared endless joy and stories of the love she held for their grandfather, Sylvester. Susan’s professional life was marked by dedication and hard work, having served at the Ohio Turnpike, Oak Rubber, and retiring from GE after 26 years of esteemed service. In her retired years, she found her true calling in caring for children, running MeMe’s Daycare, and serving as a foster parent and respite for those in need in Summit County. A devout member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, Susan served faithfully on the nurse’s guild. She was also a vibrant presence in the senior Birthday Club and led as president of the Rolling Retirees Social Club. Her love for God and her community was evident in the joy she found in praising the Lord, bowling, traveling, and hosting gatherings where she would cook her favorite meals for family and friends. Susan’s life was a testament to the power of a contagious smile and a warm, giving heart. Her strength was in her love of God, and her legacy is one of intentional love and care that she showered upon her family and community.
