Susie Mae Coleman was the youngest of nine children. Born on May 26, 1925 to Willie Lou Hickson Anderson in Union City Tennessee. Susie departed this life at the age 98 in University Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio on April 10, 2024 in the presence of her eldest daughter, Patricia. Susie attended school in Union City and Tiptonville, Tennessee. As a child, Susie accepted Christ as her personal Savior.
Susie spent her youth in Tennessee before relocating to Cleveland, Ohio where she met and married Fred Coleman on February 10, 1958. Susie was a full-time homemaker who loved cooking, baking and talking on the phone. She was very friendly and never met a stranger. Susie was blessed with five children, three daughters; Patricia A. Lett, Julie R. Merritt and Edith B. McNeal and two sons; Eugene Freeman Sr. and Ronald W. Coleman.
Susie enjoyed listening to music, especially the Blues and seeing B.B. King in Concert. Susie liked telling the history of her family through colorful stories in great detail. She didn’t miss a day of watching soap operas.
Susie was preceded in death by her husband Fred Coleman and oldest son Eugene Freeman Sr., granddaughter Danelle Lett, daughter-in-law Ruby Freeman and Son-In-Law, Eugene Lett.
Susie is survived by her daughters; Patricia A. Lett, Julie R. Merritt, Edith B. McNeal (Joe) and son, Ronald W. Coleman (Erica), six grandsons; Derek E. Lett Sr. (Rozell), Eugene Freeman Jr. (Angela), Ronsey V. Merritt, Justin R. Merritt, Timothy S. Leslie Jr., and Emmanuel B. Leslie; one granddaughter, Temika, Three great grandsons; Trevonn Stevenson Sr, Daniel E. Lett, Derek Elijah Lett, and one great granddaughter, Justice R. Merritt and two great great grandsons. Also left to relish her memory are a host of neices, nephews, cousins, and friends along with her neighbors on Arbor Road.
