Sylvia, I will never forget the fun we had at John Hay High School back in the 60's... We thought it was so "cool" because we both had Big Smiles and the same name.....Love You......See you in Paradise !

I am grateful to have had Sylvia as a mentor and friend. We met when I started my job at Union Commerce Bank after I graduated college. She took me under her wing, trained and encouraged me to work harder to achieve my goal to join the banks management training program. Whenever an opportunity arose in any department, she supported me in getting my foot in the door so I could gain the experience necessary to further my career. She advised me to move on when I did not get accepted in the program as that was not the only bank in town and I followed her advice eventually becoming a VP. I used the skills she taught me to trained young graduates in management. She supported me both professionally and personally even advising me on who I should marry, and she was always right. I married her choice. I remember her laughter telling me, "Girl that man loves you., more than you know." Her voice was music/joy/laughter/love and her smile was beauty. Sylvia loved, supported and protected her children and family with the strength of a lioness. She was wisdom to me and she gave me more than she could ever know. Her spirit and wisdom will be in my heart and mind forever and with others who I was able to share her knowledge with. Tribute to the family of my mentor and dear friend, Love Darcelle Cabrere Bowling

My sincere condolences to Sylvia's children, grand-children, great-grand's, surviving siblings and her companion and friends. I have known Sylvia almost all my life met her before I was five. Her late brother Marvin Sr, married my late sister Doris Jolly Owens. There was always a lot of laughter when Sylvia was around.
