Mrs. Sylvia M. Brown, 83, passed away January 6, 2018 at Green Village Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Brown was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. She attended East High School and earned her bachelors degree in Medical Technology at the University of Akron. She was employed at Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron as a hematologist for over 25 years. She was a member of Arlington Church of God. She sought to make a difference in our community through her work with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., National Alliance on Mental Illness and East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her sons, Howard (Celina) of Akron; Jeffery (Anita) of Carol Stream, IL; grandchildren Elijah, Akilah, Joshua (Kayla), Jelani, and Imani; great-grandson Selvin; and many other relatives and friends.
