SYLVIA SUE BROOKS was born to Mary O. Brooks and J. B. Brooks, on February 6, 1952, in Moultrie, Georgia. Sylvia commuted to Cleveland, Ohio in her early teens.
Sylvia was educated in the Cleveland Public Schools, graduating in 1971 from John Hay High School. She continued her education part-time at (TRI-C) Cuyahoga Community College. Sylvia enjoyed working, she held various jobs and positions; such as, a part-time receptionist at the Veterans Administration, a position at Judson Manor and the Forest Hills Nursing Homes, a hair stylist, a sales woman at Macy’s and a cake decorator. She shared her zest of life through her homemade cakes, homemade ice cream and good old fashion meals.
Sylvia assisted her sisters while pouring themselves into taking tender loving care of their mother. Sylvia took pride in the loving care of her own children and her grandchildren.
She was a sweet, giving, caring person, welcoming everyone into her home and her life. Sylvia enjoyed music and dancing, sometimes shocking everyone with her smooth moves and dance routines. She had a warm smile and an incredible sense of humor.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Mary O. Brooks and J. B. Brooks; her son, Fredrick L Brooks; and her brothers, Bobby and Paul Brooks.
Sylvia leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted daughter, Shalay J. Brooks; daughter-in-law, Leah Stallworth; grandchildren, Kristen, Amari, Asia and Amber; sisters, Shirley Johnson, and Mary Ann Harris, and a host of family and friends.
