Born on September 14, 1973 to Betty Jean Ward, she was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend who touched countless lives with her radiant smile, generous spirit, and unwavering faith.
From a young age, Tammy had an unbreakable spirit, an inspiring determination, an outspoken mind, and a compassionate heart that made her a light to everyone around her. She grew up in Bellamy, AL, and later moved to Cleveland, OH, where she was known for her kindness, laughter, wisdom, and the joy she brought to every room she entered.
Tammy was a graduate of Sumter Co. High School and Vogue Beauty School. She went on to pursue a fulfilling career in all things beauty! Salon owner, master cosmetologist, makeup artist & instructor, and boutique owner. Her dedication, work ethic, and love of making people feel beautiful, inside and out, left an indelible mark on those she worked with. Tammy believed in all things Beauty, Babies, Business, and Bible! Her love of caring for others, especially precious babies and other mothers, led her to later open and operate Chappell’s Child Care Center, THRIVE Holistic Counseling and Therapy Center, and Pretty Blessed Resource Center for Moms. Her strong work ethic, commitment to her community, and dedication to her faith led her to receive an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Grace Life University.
Tammy dedicated much of her time to uplifting others. Her love for helping people was evident in everything she did, and she strived for excellence in everything she touched, including her special events, and mentorship groups. Tammy found great joy in hosting the annual 100 Praying Women in Black Conference, and her mentorship groups – Leading Ladies, and Ministry in the Marketplace.
Above all, Tammy cherished her family. She was a devoted wife to the love of her life, Dr. Tone Chappell, and the most caring mother to Toni-Zoe, Tony (Trinity), Toney, Tonie-Tammy, Anthony Il, Christian, Tammi-Joi, Prince, Troy, Chase, Chelsea-Ann, and Chance Chappell, who were the lights of her life. She was a loving grandmother to Elijah Chappell, and an amazing sister to Brittany Ward. She shared unbreakable bonds with her Ward family, and many special friends. Her family meant everything to her, and her legacy of love, resilience, and compassion lives on in them.
Tammy leaves behind a host of family and friends who will forever cherish her memory. Her passing leaves a void in our hearts, yet we are comforted knowing her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
