Tarkesta Landry was born on July 23, 1983, to Towanda Landry in Barberton, Ohio.
Tarkesta was born with Spina Bifida and was diagnosed by doctors she would not live past a year old. Tarkesta was energetic, outgoing, bubbly, and an encouragement to others.
Tarkesta was a student of the Akron Public School system, attending Barrett Academy, Reidinger Middle School, and graduating from North High School in 2003. From 1991-2003, she was a member of The House of the Lord, where she sang in both the Children’s and Youth Choirs and ushered on the Youth Usher Board. She also participated in the Youth Excellence Performing Arts Workshops every year. From 2003-2014, Tarkesta was a member of Remnant of Faith Assembly, where she was an Intercessory Prayer Warrior, and participated in The Issue of Blood Women’s Ministry.
Tarkesta briefly volunteered at City Hospital as a Candy Striper, at The Boys and Girls club, and The Akron Canton Food Bank. As a teen, she was employed by The Summer Youth Program, where she was a receptionist at The Summit Lake Community Center. She was also employed by Akron Public Schools at Barrett Academy as a student tutor. In 2016-2017, She was employed by Community Connections in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and from 2017-2019, she was employed by Midwest Innovations where she was a receptionist.
Tarkesta enjoyed making crafts, which she sold from time to time, bowling, horseback riding, and spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in Death by Great-Grandmother, Ernestine Carey, and brother,Kenneth Pickett Jr.
Tarkesta is survived by Parents; Towanda, Donovan and Shellie Landry; Grandmothers, Carolyn Thomas, and Juanita Spencer; Sisters, Jacqualine, Kenisha and Olivia Landry; Brothers, Ronnell Jones Jr. and O’Bryan Landry; nieces, Mikayla Landry, E’monie Lamon, and Yasmine Porter; nephews; Kwamaine Smith-Logan, Ky’Ryll Smith-Logan, Elijah Landry, Kai’Veon Landry and Maurice Lamon; and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Family and Friends.
